Hayward Accident with Semi Truck near Tennyson Road Kills Driver and Badly Injures Passenger

HAYWARD, CA (October 6, 2021) – A man was killed in a semi truck accident near Tennyson Road and Hesperian Boulevard in Hayward Saturday morning.
 
The accident happened around 6:08 a.m. on October 2. According to the Hayward Police Department, the man was driving a car west on Tennyson Road when he broadsided the trailer of the semi truck that was heading north on Hesperian Boulevard.
 
Hayward firefighters found the man and his passenger, a 25-year-old San Mateo woman, trapped inside the car. They extricated both patients and rushed them to Eden Hospital.
 
Sadly, the man did not survive. Authorities only described him as a 26-year-old San Mateo resident.
 
The female passenger was in stable condition with major injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the 51-year-old male driver of the semi-truck was unharmed.
 
Police said alcohol was a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation. They asked anyone with further information to call Sergeant Tasha DeCosta at 510-293-7169.
