Scooter Rider Dies after Struck by Car on Flower Street in South LA

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (December 7, 2021) – A man died in a scooter accident at Flower Street and Adams Boulevard on Friday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:00 a.m. on December 3 just near the 110 Freeway about five blocks from the USC campus. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a car appeared to hit a utility box and topple a light pole before striking the man who was riding the scooter.
 
The impact caused the scooter rider fatal injuries. He died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the car and a passenger remained on scene. Police detained them for questioning.
 
At this time, it is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
 
An LAPD official told CBSLA that investigators will be reviewing nearby L.A. County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) cameras for possible video footage of the crash.
