Man Killed in Rollover DUI Car Crash in Sacramento County

 
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA (August 10, 2022) – A man was killed in a rollover DUI crash at Sheldon Lake Drive and Grant Line Road early Tuesday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. on August 10. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2021 Honda was speeding down Sunrise Boulevard when it failed to negotiate a curve. It then went down a drainage ditch.
 
The car overturned several times, crashing into a wood fence and a parked car, before it finally came to a rest in a vacant lot.
 
The driver of the car, a 21-year-old man from Elk Grove, was pinned and had to be extricated by firefighters. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
The passenger, a 21-year-old woman from Elk Grove, was ejected and suffered major injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt.
 
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
