Lompoc Man Dies in Orcutt Pursuit Rollover on Highway 135

 
ORCUTT, CA (June 30, 2021) – A man died after a pursuit rollover accident on Highway 135 south of Orcutt Monday evening.
 
The accident happened around 9:50 p.m. on June 28, underneath the Highway 1 bridge. According to the CHP, Vandenberg Space Force Base security personnel pursued the 47-year-old Lompoc man in a full-size GMC pickup.
 
The pickup was heading northbound on Highway 1 when it failed to negotiate the curve at the intersection with Highway 135. It then left the roadway, became airborne and overturned on its roof.
 
Firefighters and other emergency personnel responded, and located the vehicle with major damage. The male driver was trapped in the wreckage.
 
Life-saving measures were performed, but the man died at the scene. Authorities withheld the name of the victim pending notification of relatives.
 
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.
