Man Dies in Possible DUI Crash near Road 1 in Madera County

 
MADERA COUNTY, CA (February 15, 2022) — A man died in a possible DUI accident near Road 1 and Avenue 21 on Sunday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the single-car crash happened on a private dirt road east of Road 1. For possible DUI-related reasons, the 45-year-old male driver made an unsafe turn and lost control of the Nissan.
 
As a result, the Nissan flipped and threw the man — who was not wearing a safety belt — from the vehicle.
 
Soon after, officers and paramedics responded to the scene and transported an 18-year-old passenger to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Although, the 45-year-old driver of the Nissan died at the scene.
 
At this time, the crash requires further investigation. Therefore, anyone with information should reach out to the CHP.
