Man Dies in Modoc County Plane Accident on Highway 395

 
MODOC COUNTY, CA (June 22, 2021) — One man died in a plane crash on Highway 395 near Altura Sunday morning.
 
According to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, the plane was reportedly taking off from a ranch about 15 miles south of Alturas. For unknown reasons, as the plane took off shortly after 9:00 a.m., it failed to gain altitude.
 
Subsequently, the plane crashed, and a 65-year-old male passenger died in the accident. Soon after, paramedics arrived and airlifted the 65-year-old male pilot to Mercy Medical Center in Redding with major injuries.
 
At this time, detectives have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the plane crash. However, the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
