59-Year-Old Oakland Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Vehicle on Broadway

 
OAKLAND, CA (December 5, 2021) – A man died in a pedestrian hit-and-run on Broadway in the Uptown district, early Saturday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 1:46 a.m. on December 4. According to the Oakland Police Department, the man was walking in the southbound traffic lanes when a four-door gray sedan struck him in the 1900 block of Broadway.
 
After the crash, the involved driver failed to stop, leaving the victim with severe injuries.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the man to a hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the man did not survive and was declared dead.
 
The coroner’s office only identified the victim as a 59-year-old Oakland resident. They will release his name once family members are notified.
 
At this time, police are still searching the hit-and-run vehicle and driver. They are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
