Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident on Pacific Highway near San Diego Freeway

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 16, 2023) — A man died in a pedestrian crash on Pacific Highway at around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14.
 
According to San Diego Police Department officials, a 33-year-old pedestrian walked in the northbound lane in the 4800 block of Pacific Highway. Then a 2016 Lincoln MKZ traveling northbound struck him.
 
The pedestrian died at the scene from sustained injuries in the incident. His identity was not immediately available, pending notification of loved ones.
 
Police said that the 41-year-old driver told officers he did not notice the man walking in the lane.
 
Police said that intoxication did not contribute as a factor in the crash.
 
SDPD Traffic Division officers continue to investigate the incident.
