Man Dies in Modesto Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99

 
MODESTO, CA (June 17, 2022) — A man died in a pedestrian crash on Highway 99 near Kansas Avenue on Thursday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 2:50 a.m. Thursday. For unknown reasons, a 38-year-old pedestrian walking in the center median of the northbound highway made a sudden turn, walking directly into the path of an oncoming Nissan Murano.
 
As a result, the 24-year-old Nissan driver struck the pedestrian. Due to the nature of the crash, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries.
 
Following the accident, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators who did not suspect the driver to be impaired. However, an investigation into whether the pedestrian had been under the influence at the time of the crash should confirm any unclear details.
