Pedestrian Dies after Struck by SUV on Wooley Road in Oxnard

 
OXNARD, CA (July 31, 2022) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Wooley Road in Oxnard on Friday evening, July 29.
 
The fatal accident happened around 8:40 p.m. at Mercantile Street. The location was an industrial area where there is no crosswalk or other traffic controls. According to the Oxnard Police Department, the man was walking northbound across Wooley Road when a 2011 Dodge Durango SUV struck him.
 
When officers arrived, they found the pedestrian lying in the roadway with severe injuries.
 
Emergency crews rushed the victim to a hospital, where he later died.
 
The driver of the SUV, a 43-year-old Oxnard man, remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
It is still unknown if speed, alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
