Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Car on Taft Highway in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 29, 2022) – A man died in a pedestrian accident on Taft Highway in Bakersfield early Saturday morning, June 25.
The accident happened around 3:38 a.m. just east of Par Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male pedestrian was walking west on Taft Highway and was partially within the roadway directly in the path of a gray Honda Accord.
The driver of the Honda traveling west on Taft Highway was unable to take evasive action and struck the pedestrian.
After the crash, the Honda’s driver continued. Authorities later located the vehicle abandoned near the crash.
The unidentified pedestrian suffered fatal injuries died at the scene.
It was unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The fatality is still under investigation and anyone with information can call the CHP Bakersfield office at 661-396-6600.
