Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (April 10, 2021) – A man died in a pedestrian accident on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach early Saturday morning.
 
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the male pedestrian was crossing northbound on the highway at Cherry Avenue around 1:20 a.m., April 10.
 
The victim was in the crosswalk, but was crossing against a red crossing signal, the preliminary investigation revealed.
 
Upon arrival, officers contacted a Signal Hill Police Department officer who was already on scene performing life-saving measures. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and took the victim to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
The involved driver of a 2009 Honda Civic, a 20-year-old Anaheim man, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
Neither alcohol, drugs, nor distracted driving were believed to be factors in the collision.
