BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 2, 2022) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Pacheco Road in Bakersfield on New Year’s Eve.
 
The fatal accident happened just after 6:30 p.m. on December 31. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the male pedestrian was walking in the area when a vehicle struck him.
 
As a result, the man suffered major injuries. Responding paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he later died. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
The driver who struck the pedestrian stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
 
Alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash, according to police. Further investigation is underway.
