Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Monterey Road in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (June 2, 2021) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Monterey Road in South San Jose Friday evening, May 28.
 
The accident happened around 9:20 p.m. at the intersection with Valleyhaven Way. According to the San Jose Police Department, the adult man was walking across Monterey Road, outside of a marked crosswalk, when a northbound dark grey 2020 Jeep Wrangler struck him.
 
First responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
 
Authorities did not release the identity of the pedestrian pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, the driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol played a factor in the accident. Further investigation is underway.
