Man in Wheelchair Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Lotus Lane in South Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 17, 2022) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Lotus Lane in south Bakersfield on Sunday evening.
 
The accident happened just after 9:00 p.m. on January 17 near Melwood Street. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the man was crossing the street in his wheelchair when a vehicle struck him.
 
When officers arrived, they found the man in the roadway suffering from significant injuries.
 
Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital, where the unidentified victim later died.
 
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing. Police urged witnesses to call them at 661-327-7111.
