Man Dead after San Jose Pedestrian Accident on Lennon Way near Newport Avenue

 
SAN JOSE, CA (May 6, 2022) — A man suffered fatal injuries following a pedestrian accident on Lennon Way on Thursday, May 5.
 
According to the police, the crash occurred at around 8 a.m. along the 1200 block of Lennon Way.
 
An initial investigation said a man driving a work truck pulled up to a house that is under construction to unload supplies.
 
As the truck driver began to reverse, he struck a vehicle that had stopped behind him. The driver then continued reversing into the driveway and then struck the pedestrian. The incident pinned the pedestrian between the back of the truck and a parked car in the driveway.
 
Medics rushed the pedestrian to a local hospital where he died from sustained injuries. Officials have withheld his identity pending notification of loved ones.
 
The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. He did not show any signs of impairment.
 
The police said the incident marked the 30th deadly collision and 32nd traffic death in San Jose this year.
