Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Sedan on Highway 78 in Oceanside

 
OCEANSIDE, CA (March 28, 2023) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 78 in Oceanside early Saturday morning on March 25.
 
The fatal accident happened around 4:18 a.m. just east of Emerald Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was walking in the third westbound lane of the highway when a Toyota sedan struck him.
 
The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity was not immediately available.
 
The driver of the Toyota, a 38-year-old man from Oceanside, was unharmed.
 
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
 
Authorities asked anyone who may have information or witnessed the crash to contact the Oceanside Area CHP office at 760-643-3400.
