Man Struck and Killed after Exiting His Vehicle along Highway 50 in Folsom

 
FOLSOM, CA (August 15, 2021) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 50 near Folsom early Thursday morning.
 
The accident happened around 2:41 a.m. on August 12, in the area of Prairie City Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a pickup truck had crashed into the highway median for unknown reasons. It then hit a metal guardrail twice before it stopped in the median.
 
After the crash, the driver exited his pickup and crossed the highway’s eastbound lanes. While he was crossing the roadway, an eastbound vehicle struck him.
 
First responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. He was 22 years old, but his identity has not yet been released.
 
It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol was a factor. CHP officials are still investigating the accident.
