Man Falls from Car and Dies after Struck by Passing Motorist on Highway 24 in Orinda

 
ORINDA, CA (July 18, 2022) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 24 in Orinda on Friday, July 15.
 
The accident happened around 11:07 p.m. just west of the Camino Pablo off-ramp. According to California Highway Patrol, the right front passenger of an Infiniti sedan partially extended himself outside the car. He then fell out of the car and landed on the roadway.
 
While the man was down on the roadway, a passing vehicle struck him. He died at the scene.
 
Crews temporarily closed all eastbound lanes of the highway while they cleared the wreckage.
 
It is unclear if the driver of the passing vehicle that struck the victim stayed after the crash.
 
An investigation into this accident is ongoing.
