Pedestrian Dies after Falling from Highway 52 Crossing in Kearny Mesa, Being Hit by Several Vehicles

 
KEARNY MESA, CA (January 24, 2023) – A man died in a pedestrian accident on Convoy Street over Highway 52 in Kearny Mesa on Thursday evening.
 
Around 7:55 p.m. on January 19, the man had been walking on the Convoy Street crossing over Highway 52. For reasons under investigation, he fell and landed in westbound traffic lanes, where he was struck by several vehicles.
 
The man died at the scene. He was a 27-year-old Chula Vista resident.
 
It is unknown if the victim was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A toxicology report is pending through the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
 
Crews closed all westbound lanes at Convoy Street for approximately an hour to allow the investigation to proceed. No other involved parties sustained injuries.
