Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Canyon Road in Happy Valley Area

 
REDDING, CA (June 29, 2022) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Canyon Road in the Happy Valley area southwest of Redding on Tuesday morning, June 28.
 
The accident happened a little before 5:00 a.m. just east of China Gulch Road. According to the CHP, the male pedestrian was walking or running in the lanes of Canyon Road when he entered the path of the 1999 GMC, driven by 54-year-old Carl Schulte of Redding.
 
The GMC struck the pedestrian, causing the victim significant injuries.
 
Despite life-saving efforts, the pedestrian died at the scene. He was a 31-year-old Redding resident.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was involved. The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
