55-Year-Old Man Dies in Evening Pedestrian Accident on Bernard Street in East Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 23, 2021) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Bernard Street in East Bakersfield on June 22.
 
The accident happened just after 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, near North Baker Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 55-year-old man was crossing Bernard Street when a Chevrolet Impala struck him.
 
The driver of the Impala did not notice the man in the crosswalk, officials said.
 
Paramedics arrived and rushed the man to Kern Medical Center, where the victim succumbed to his injuries.
 
CHP officials said drugs, alcohol and distraction do not appear to be factors in the accident. Further investigation is underway.
