Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Unlicensed Teen Driver on Artesia Boulevard in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA (February 14, 2022) – A man died in a pedestrian accident at Artesia Boulevard and Orizaba Avenue on Thursday evening.
 
The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. on February 10. According to the Long Beach Police Department, the male pedestrian was walking in the area when a 2011 Lincoln MKS struck him.
 
When officers arrived, they found the man trapped underneath the car. They pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
The driver, a 17-year-old Long Beach man, remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. He did not have a driver’s license and was released to a parent at the scene.
 
According to police, distracted driving, speeding, or alcohol or drug impairment do not appear to be a factor in the fatal crash. Further investigation is underway.
