Pedestrian Walking on 880 Freeway in Oakland Dies after Struck by Vehicle

 
OAKLAND, CA (August 4, 2022) – A man died in a pedestrian accident on 880 Freeway in Oakland late Tuesday evening on August 2.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:12 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway, just south of Hegenberger Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was walking on the freeway when a vehicle struck him.
 
The man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was not yet identified.
 
The driver of the vehicle had minor injuries. They stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
CHP officials said there is no indication the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Further investigation is underway.
