Man Dies in Pedestrian Crash on 880 Freeway

 
BERKELEY, CA (November 22, 2021) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on the 880 Freeway near Ashby Avenue, Sunday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident happened at approximately 6:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, a driver in a Toyota pickup struck the adult male pedestrian.
 
Soon after, the driver pulled over and cooperated with police officers who responded shortly after. As for the pedestrian, paramedics tried rendering aid but pronounced him deceased at the scene not long after.
 
At this time, the victim’s name and the liabilities have not been confirmed. However, California Highway Patrol officers have ruled out impairment as a possible explanation for this pedestrian accident. Anyone with information should call the CHP-Oakland Area Office.
