Man Fatally Struck by SUV after Exiting His Vehicle on 8 Freeway in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 8, 2021) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 8 Freeway in San Diego on Saturday evening.
 
The accident happened around 7:15 p.m. on November 6 near Texas Street/Qualcomm Way on-ramps. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man had pulled over and got out of his vehicle for unknown reasons. After exiting his car, a blue SUV heading west on the freeway struck him.
 
As a result, the man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was not yet identified.
 
It is unclear if the driver of the SUV has stayed after the crash.
 
Crews closed the left three lanes of the freeway while they cleared the wreckage. All lanes were reopened shortly before 9:00 p.m.
 
An investigation into the pedestrian accident on 8 Freeway is ongoing.
