57-Year-Old Man Dead in Pedestrian Accident Involving Overturned Vehicle on 8 Freeway in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 29, 2022) – A 57-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on 8 Freeway near Waring Road on Sunday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on June 26 at about 3:15 p.m. The driver of a white Mercedes-Benz sedan applied her brakes to avoid hitting the crossing pedestrian.
 
However, a white Chevrolet was unable to stop and slammed into the rear of the Mercedes-Benz. The impact of the collision caused the Mercedes-Benz to overturn and hit the man.
 
Emergency crews rushed the victim to a hospital, where he later died. Authorities withheld the name of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
As per reports, the driver of the Chevrolet sustained minor injuries.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
