Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle on 5 Freeway in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 14, 2021) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway in San Diego, late Sunday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened just after 5:00 p.m. on December 12 near Sampson Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male pedestrian was walking on the freeway when a vehicle struck him.
 
The impact caused the man significant injuries. Paramedics attempted saving him, but he died at the scene.
 
At this time, the identity of the victim was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
No other injuries were reported.
 
The initial report did not indicate if the driver stopped at the scene. Further investigation is underway.
