Man Dies in Dana Point Pedestrian Crash on 5 Freeway

 
DANA POINT, CA (August 31, 2021) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on the 5 Freeway near Pacific Coast Highway Sunday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 8:05 p.m. For unknown reasons, the man reportedly ran from the right shoulder of the southbound freeway to the center divider. As a result, an oncoming Ford Explorer struck him.
 
Soon after, authorities and paramedics responded and officers issued a SigAlert around 8:51 p.m. However, the victim ended up succumbing to his injuries.
 
At this time, authorities have no explanation for this pedestrian accident on the 5 Freeway. Although, any witnesses who have seen this accident should call the CHP.
