Man Dies in Sacramento Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (February 9, 2021) — A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on the 5 Freeway near El Camino Avenue Monday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly incident happened around 4:30 a.m.
 
Upon responding to the scene, investigators learned that three vehicles were involved in the crash.
 
For unknown reasons, a 40-year-old man tried running from the center divider to the right shoulder of the freeway. However, during this attempt, an oncoming pickup truck struck him in the No. 2 lane. The impact subsequently sent the man onto the No. 4 lane, where two more cars ran over him.
 
As a result of the accident, the pedestrian died at the scene. As for the drivers, all three of them stayed for the investigation.
 
So far, police have ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the accident. However, the case remains open, and anyone who can help CHP officers with this crash should call their offices.
