Man Dies in Boyle Heights Pedestrian Crash on 5 Freeway

BOYLE HEIGHTS, CA (June 25, 2021) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on the 5 Freeway near 4th Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly pedestrian crash happened around 3:15 am. For unknown reasons, the man was standing in a traffic lane just south of 4th Street near Hollenbeck Park. Subsequently, a tractor-trailer and several vehicles struck the victim.

As a result of the accident, the victim died from his injuries. His identity will be withheld pending notification of family members. Following the accident, the truck driver stayed at the scene for investigation.

At this time, the crash remains under investigation. However, any witnesses with more information should contact the CHP.
