Man in Wheelchair Dies after Struck by Vehicle at 4th and V Streets
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 23, 2023) – A man in a wheelchair was killed in a pedestrian at 4th Street and V Streets in Bakersfield on Friday evening.
The fatal accident happened just before 7:00 p.m. on March 24. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the man using a wheelchair was crossing the road in an unmarked section when a vehicle struck him.
When officers arrived, they found the man lying on the road unresponsive and with major injuries.
Paramedics attempted saving the victim, but he died at the scene.
The woman driving the vehicle stopped and cooperated with police.
Neither speed, drugs nor alcohol appear to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. Anyone with further information is asked to call the BPD at 661-327-7111.
