Deadly Pedestrian Accident on 215 Freeway in Riverside

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (March 15, 2021) – A homeless man died in a pedestrian accident on 215 Freeway Saturday morning, March 13.
 
The accident happened around 11:45 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway near Center Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was walking barefoot along the right shoulder. He was trying to run into traffic when a vehicle struck him near the center divider.
 
As a result, the victim suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. His identity was not immediately available.
 
A Sigalert was issued and all lanes on the southbound side of the freeway were shut down, with traffic being diverted off at Center Street.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
