Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on 15 Freeway near East Main Street [Barstow, CA]

Santa Maria Man Dies after Struck by Vehicle while walking along 15 Freeway in Barstow

 
BARSTOW, CA (November 25, 2022) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 15 Freeway in Barstow Friday evening on November 18.
 
The fatal accident happened around 9:12 p.m. just south of East Main Street. According to the CHP, the male pedestrian wearing dark clothing was walking within traffic lanes of the northbound freeway when a 2010 Dodge Challenger struck him.
 
Emergency medical personnel responded and immediately began life-saving measures as they transported the victim to Barstow Community Hospital.
 
Despite life-saving efforts at the hospital, the pedestrian was declared dead. He was a 33-year-old Santa Maria resident.
 
The driver of the Challenger was a 64-year-old Dinuba man.
 
At this time, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the crash. The California Highway Patrol Barstow Area Office encouraged anyone with further information to call them at 760-255-5900.
