Speeding Motorcyclist Dies after Crash with Pickup Truck at Shasta Street and Pine Street
REDDING, CA (October 17, 2022) – A man died in a motorcycle accident at Shasta Street and Pine Street in downtown Redding late Wednesday evening.
The accident happened around 11:40 p.m. on October 12. According to the California Highway Patrol, an officer spotted the motorcycle speeding on 5 Freeway and tried to pull over the rider.
However, the rider sped away westbound on Highway 44. He then ran a red light at the intersection of Shasta and Pine streets when he crashed into a pickup truck.
As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital where he later died.
The intersection was closed for several hours as officers investigated. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor.
