Motorcyclist Dies after Crashing into Vehicle on Highway 33 in Ojai
OJAI, CA (January 9, 2023) – A 27-year-old Oxnard man died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 33 above Ojai Friday afternoon on January 6.
The fatal accident happened around 2:45 p.m. at the north fork of Matilija Creek. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was riding his 2014 Yamaha motorcycle southbound when he crossed over solid double-yellow lines into the northbound lane. He then hit the front end of a 2021 Hyundai that was traveling northbound.
A 48-year-old man was driving the Hyundai with three passengers, a 45-year-old woman, and two boys, age 12 and 8. All four of them were from Claremont.
Ventura County Fire Department crews pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. His name was not released pending notification of family.
No one in the Hyundai was seriously injured. All occupants wore seat belts, according to the CHP. Two complained of pain and the 8-year-old had seatbelt abrasions, but all declined medical treatment at the scene.
No arrests were made at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
