Ford SUV Involved in Deadly Motorcycle Accident on Edison Highway in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 17, 2021) – A 38-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle accident on Edison Highway in East Bakersfield early Wednesday morning.
 
The accident happened a little before 5:00 a.m. on June 16, just east of Sterling Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was riding his motorcycle eastbound on the highway when a Ford SUV entered the highway directly into his path.
 
The motorcycle clipped the front of the SUV and the rider was ejected.
 
Paramedics arrived soon after and found the motorcyclist suffering from major injuries. They rushed him to Kern Medical Center, where the victim later died.
 
The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He was not yet identified.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV, 23-year-old Isabel Morelos Lopez, was not injured.
 
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor of the crash, which remains under investigation.
