Motorcyclist Dies after Crash with Pickup Truck on 880 Freeway in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (September 13, 2022) – A man died in a motorcycle accident on 880 Freeway in San Jose on Thursday afternoon, September 8.
 
The accident happened around 4:10 p.m. near Bascom Avenue. According to the CHP, the man was riding a 2013 Harley-Davidson Road Glide motorcycle northbound on the freeway and took the off-ramp to southbound Bascom Avenue. He was riding at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve and continued straight. He then went down an embankment and crossed into the northbound lanes of Bascom Avenue.
 
The motorcycle collided with a 2020 Ford F-150 pickup truck, whose driver was unable to avoid the wayward rider.
 
The rider was thrown off his motorcycle. He died a short time later. He was a 51-year-old San Jose resident.
 
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office withheld the rider’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
 
Authorities said there were no obvious signs that impairment from drugs or alcohol factored into the fatal crash. They asked anyone with further information to can contact the San Jose field office at 408-961-0900.
