Passenger Killed, Moises Mendoza Seriously Injured in Car Accident on Temperance Avenue [Fresno, CA]

Early Morning Two-Car Accident in Fresno Kills Passenger, Driver Moises Mendoza Suffers Serious Injuries

 
FRESNO, CA (April 11, 2022) – A passenger died and Moises Mendoza was seriously injured in a two-car accident in southeast Fresno early Wednesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 12:45 a.m. on April 6 in the area of Temperance Avenue near North Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 19-year-old victim from Clovis was a passenger in a Toyota Rav4.
 
Benjamin Villa Fuerte, a 48-year-old Fresno resident, was driving the Toyota SUV and failed to stop at the stop sign as he drove north on Temperance. He then drove directly into the path of a Toyota Corolla, driven by 21-year-old Mendoza of Fresno.
 
Both drivers were unable to take evasive action, and the Corolla struck the passenger side of the Toyota.
 
Both cars left the roadway and ended up in a dirt field, where the Toyota overturned.
 
The male teen passenger of the Toyota was ejected and died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics rushed Mendoza to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
 
Officers said the drivers did not appear to be impaired and nobody was arrested. Further investigation is underway.
