Driver Dies after Losing Control of Vehicle and Colliding with Another Car on Rosedale Highway

BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 31, 2022) – A 43-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Rosedale Highway in northwest Bakersfield on Monday night.

The accident happened around 6:42 p.m. on March 28 at Renfro Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a BMW and was stopped in the westbound lanes at the intersection.

When the light turned green, the BMW rapidly accelerated. The man lost control of the vehicle, traveled into the eastbound lanes and collided into the Ford.

As a result, the man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was not yet identified.

Meanwhile, paramedics took the driver of the Ford to Kern Medical with moderate injuries.

CHP officials said the rapid acceleration of the BMW and the roadway being wet likely caused the driver to lose control.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
