Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Teen after Fatally Striking Pedestrian on Elk Grove Boulevard

 
ELK GROVE, CA (March 31, 2022) – A man died in a hit-and-run crash on Elk Grove Boulevard on Tuesday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened just after 8:30 p.m. on March 29 near Shorelake Drive. According to the Elk Grove Police Department, the 53-year-old victim was crossing Elk Grove Boulevard outside of a crosswalk when a vehicle struck him.
 
After striking the victim, the 17-year-old driver of the vehicle took off without rendering aid.
 
The man, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene.
 
Police later located the teen driver and arrested him. They booked him into juvenile hall on charges including vehicular manslaughter, hit and run resulting in death and hit and run resulting in injury.
 
Meanwhile, the passenger riding in the suspect vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Police determined speed was a factor in the crash, while alcohol and drugs did not play a role. An investigation is ongoing.
