Pedestrian Walking in Bicycle Lane Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Highland
HIGHLAND, CA (August 31, 2022) – A man died in a hit-and-run crash on East Baseline Street in Highland late Thursday evening, August 25.
The fatal crash happened around 11:49 p.m. just east of McKinley Avenue. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the man walked southbound across East Baseline when a westbound vehicle struck him.
After striking the victim, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid.
Deputies from the Highland Sheriff’s Station responded and found the man lying in the westbound bicycle lane with significant injuries.
Despite life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene. Authorities only identified him as a 30-year-old Highland resident.
