Speeding Motorcyclist Dies after Crash with Car on 1st Avenue in Cortez Hill Area

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 23, 2022) – A man was killed in a high-speed motorcycle accident on 1st Avenue in the Cortez Hill area of San Diego early Friday.
 
The accident happened just before 2:00 a.m. on August 19 at Ash Street. According to the San Diego Police Department, the 32-year-old man was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle at a high rate of speed and ran through a red light downtown.
 
A Toyota Prius entered the intersection at the same time, heading west on Ash Street.
 
The motorcycle broadsided the Prius at the intersection. The rider suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics took the driver of the Prius to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
 
San Diego Police traffic investigators are still investigating the crash, but have already determined that alcohol was not a factor. They asked witnesses to call them at 888-580-8477.
