Head-On Accident on Highway 29 in Calistoga Kills 1 Driver

CALISTOGA, CA (February 14, 2022) – A man died in a head-on accident on Highway 29 in Calistoga on Thursday morning.
 
The accident happened around 9:18 a.m. on February 10, at the intersection with Dunaweal Lane. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 56-year-old man from Calistoga was driving a GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck south on Highway 29 when he went over the double yellow lines into the northbound lanes. A Ford E-250 van traveling north then hit the pickup truck head-on.
 
As a result, the man driving the pickup truck suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was not yet identified.
 
Meanwhile, the 51-year-old Napa man driving the Ford van was taken by medical helicopter to a hospital with major injuries. His passenger, a 33-year-old Napa man, was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
 
At this time, the cause and factors of the crash remain under investigation.
