Man Killed in Head-On Accident on Black Butte Road near Wildcat Road [Shingletown, CA]

Head-On Accident on Black Butte Road in Shingletown Kills 1 and Injures 5

 
SHINGLETOWN, CA (June 29, 2021) – A man was killed in a head-on accident on Black Butte Road in Shasta County Monday morning.
 
The accident happened just after 11:45 a.m. on June 28, near Wildcat Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Honda Pilot southbound on Black Butte Road. For unknown reasons, he crossed the double yellow line at a blind curve and collided head-on into a Honda Odyssey.
 
As a result, the driver of the Pilot suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. His identity was withheld pending notification of his family members.
 
Five people in the Odyssey sustained minor to moderate injuries.
 
Crews closed the roadway for about two hours while they cleared the wreckage.
 
The cause and factors of the crash remain under investigation.
