Golf Cart Driver Dies after Rear-Ended by Car on Highway 28 in Tahoe City

 
TAHOE CITY, CA (July 28, 2022) – A man died in a golf cart accident on Highway 28 in Tahoe City on Tuesday morning, July 26.
 
The accident happened shortly after 6:20 a.m. just west of the Grove Street exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving the golf cart on the highway. The white utility bed golf cart belonged to the Tahoe City Downtown Association.
 
A 2018 Honda traveling directly behind the golf cart failed to notice the golf cart in front of him and rear-ended it at an undetermined speed.
 
The impact ejected the golf cart driver. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities only identified him as a Kings Beach man in his 50s.
 
CHP officials said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor and no arrests were made.
 
This fatal crash remains under investigation. The CHP asked anyone with further information to contact Officer Gardner at CHP Truckee at 530-563-9200.
