Early Morning Fiery Accident on 10 Freeway in Fontana Kills Driver

 
FONTANA, CA (July 1, 2021) – A man was killed in a fiery accident on 10 Freeway near Sierra Avenue early Tuesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 4:10 a.m. on June 29. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 2005 Ford pickup truck at a high rate of speed when he hit an exit sign. He then crashed through a fence and a concrete barrier on the overpass.
 
The pickup flew over the edge, smashed onto the freeway below and caught fire. A light pole and debris also fell onto the freeway from the Sierra Avenue bridge.
 
As a result of the crash, the man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was not yet identified.
 
The eastbound side of the freeway was closed during the hours-long crash investigation. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the accident.
