San Jose Police Arrest Suspect in Early Morning DUI Hit-and-Run Crash on Monterey Road
COYOTE, CA (March 28, 2021) – A man died in a DUI hit-and-run on Monterey Road near the unincorporated community of Coyote early Saturday morning.
According to the San Jose Police Department, the accident happened around 1:10 a.m. March 27 at Live Oak Avenue.
Police said the victim was driving a Chevrolet truck south on Monterey Road when a speeding 2016 Hyundai Sonata rear-ended him. The Hyundai driver did not stop to render aid.
As a result, the unidentified driver of the Chevrolet truck suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Patrol officers were able to track the suspect to a residence in the 1800 block of Senter Road. They arrested him and booked him at the Santa Clara County jail on charges that included vehicular manslaughter, felony driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of an accident.
At this time, this fatal crash is under investigation.
