Early Sunday Accident at Fifth and Market Streets Leaves Driver Dead

 
OAKLAND, CA (March 28, 2021) – A 32-year-old Richmond man was killed early Sunday in a car accident at Fifth Street and Market Street.
 
According to the Oakland Police Department, the accident happened around 4:49 a.m., March 28.
 
The man was driving a 2015 Honda eastbound in the 800 block of Fifth Street. For unknown reasons, the car went off course, struck a fence and then a trailer container, which was parked in a lot beneath 880 Freeway at Market Street.
 
As a result, the driver suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities did not release his name pending notification of his family members.
 
The victim was the sole occupant of the Honda.
 
Police have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
