Fatal Bicycle Accident on Willow Glen Drive in El Cajon

 
EL CAJON, CA (February 10, 2021) – A man died Wednesday evening after bicycle accident on Willow Glen Drive east of El Cajon.
 
The fatal bicycle accident happened around 7:20 p.m. just west of Dehesa Road.
 
According to an article from Times of San Diego, the 32-year-old La Mesa man was riding an Electra Townie bicycle eastbound. At the same time, a 48-year-old El Cajon man was also heading eastbound in an Infiniti QX60 SUV at about 45 mph.
 
For unknown reasons, the Infiniti drifted to the right and struck the bicyclist from behind. The impact ejected the bicyclist onto the roadway.
 
The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The victim’s name was withheld pending family notification.
 
The Infiniti driver remained at the scene and intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
 
An investigation into this bicycle accident is ongoing.
